# Google's SynthID Just Became More Important Than the AI Content Itself
This is a particularly strong angle because the story has moved beyond simple watermarking.
Google says SynthID can watermark AI-generated images, audio, video and text, while its newer SynthID Bio extends provenance into AI-designed proteins.
That creates something much more interesting:
Digital provenance -> biological provenance.
Imagine the eventual stack:
AI model

Generated object
↓
Embedded provenance

Verification
↓
Regulatory/compliance record
Newage insight:
As AI begins generating things with economic, scientific and physical consequences, provenance becomes infrastructure.
This is considerably fresher than "Google launches AI watermarking."
